’´…For many be called, but few chosen.” Mack Arthur Mitchell was chosen from the foundation of the world by God to lead His people. Mack Mitchell entered the realm of time to become equipped for such a time as this on March 8, 1953. His childhood, formative, and young adult, years were spent in Alvaton, Georgia. Mack Mitchell is a testimony to the supernatural transforming power of God. He is the youngest son of Tommy L Mitchell, Sr. and Effie Chapman Mitchell, local sharecroppers.
He was educated in the Meriwether County School System. He experienced many near fatal adversities in child and young adulthood. Mack Mitchell accepted the Lord Jesus as Savior in 1976 after a near fatal car accident which left him with a broken neck. God then took his broken body and spirit and transformed him into a mighty man of God and he never looked back. He was ordained and served faithfully as assistant pastor of St. Paul Holiness Church in Alvaton, Georgia for several years before being appointed pastor.
St. Paul Holiness Church was located on the dirt road for twenty-seven years. Pastor Mack Mitchell was instrumental in the acquisition of a brand new sanctuary at 27587 Georgia Hwy 85 in Alvaton, Georgia. Pastor Mack Mitchell continues a legacy of an unparalleled compassion for lost souls and an unyielding commitment to the Word of God. Pastor Mack Mitchell utilizes the Bible as the basis of his beliefs. His humbleness, compassion, and magnetic personality pave the way for Godly teaching and spirit filled sermons.
In 2007, under the direction of the Holy Ghost, Pastor Mitchell gave the vision of St. Paul becoming “new”; for God spoke it by land and confirmed it by sea. With this divine vision, the New St. Paul Holiness Church entered a challenging season of transition. Nevertheless, Pastor Mitchell continues sound biblical preaching and teaching emphasizing winning the lost to Christ with an unwavering dedication to the scriptures. For 47 years, New SPHC has patiently and faithfully served God‘s people in both the church and the surrounding communities. Pastor Mack Mitchell and wife Nellie resides near Alvaton. God has blessed them with four children; one of which is a minister in Virginia. Pastor Mitchell and New St. Paul Holiness Church continue to believe the best is yet to come. GOD is faithful!
