Pastor Mike Glanton is one of the most diverse, recognized and respected Ministers in South Metropolitan Atlanta. In addition to being the Founding Pastor of New Life Christian Church of Jonesboro, he is a former State Representative who was elected to serve in the Georgia General Assembly in 2006 and served until January 2011. Pastor Glanton born and raised in Rome (Floyd County) Georgia has been a public servant/volunteer/leader/philanthropist/motivational/inspriartional speaker for over thirty-five years He is a United States Army Retired War Veteran. Pastor Glanton spent significant time in over thirteen (13) countries and lived in eighteen (18) different cities around the world.

He matriculated with Georgia Military College, Liberty University, Fayetteville State University, United States Army Logistics Management College and is a graduate of the Carl Venison Institute of Government at the University of Georgia. Pastor Glanton began his ministerial efforts serving with a start-up ministry on the south side that is now a mega-Church. He served in several ministries including the men’s, youth, education, and counseling ministries. Additionally, he conducted new members orientation, taught Adult Sunday School and Directed the Church’s ”Back to School Rally” in partnership with Clayton County Public Schools. He was certified as a Lay Counselor and Teacher Trainer.

Pastor Glanton’s service, commitment and dedication to his church and community are unprecedented. He is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions. Among his awards are the Federal Humanitarian Service Medal, the Kuwait Liberation Medal, and the Georgia Secretary Of State’s Outstanding Citizen Award. His community involvement and outreach is a smorgasbord of servitude. He is a 2008/2009/2010 Top Volunteer and District Partner In Education for the Clayton County Public Schools and served on the Superintendent’s Executive Advisory Council. He is Clayton County Arc’s 2008 “Legislator of the Year” (A organization catering to the needs of the Intellectually and physically challenged).

He is the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce “Community Service Award” recipient for 2008 and was selected to the Georgia Chamber of Commerce 2009 “Honor Roll”. Pastor Glanton serves as Chairman of the Governing Council for the Clayton County Public Charter School Elite Scholars Academy. He serves on numerous local boards including Chairman, House of Dawn, Inc., (a second chance home for teenage mothers 13-18 and a Transitional Living Program for homeless mothers 18-24); Chairman, Finish High School Hope Foundation (a mentoring and tutoring program for at-risk kids who are potential high school drop-outs); Chairman, Alzheimer’s Service Support Center Board of Directors, Board of Directors for Calvary Refuge Center (a homeless shelter & transitional living center) and the Board of Directors for ESAP (Emergency Shelter and Assistance Program) among others. Pastor Glanton served as a volunteer consumer advocate/researcher for the WXIA TV Channel 11 Alive consumer reporting and assistance program “Call for Action”.

As a philanthropist, Pastor Glanton has personally risen over $350,000 dollars in donations for local nonprofits through his annual signature community events including the Annual Ministers’ Fellowship Breakfast, Clayton County National Day of Prayer Community Breakfast, International Cultural Celebration Program, East Clayton County Community Day Festival, Business2Business Bowling Tournament and the Coalition of Clergy Annual Community Awards Banquet. Pastor Glanton served as the Chairman for the American Cancer Society “Relay for Life” for Clayton County in 2009. He currently serves as the President of the Clayton County Ministers’ Conference and Co-Founded of the Coalition of Clayton County Clergy. He is the recipient of the Coalition’s 2009 Exceptional Servanthood Award. He is a member of the Forest Park Ministers Association (FPMA) and the Association of Christian Ministers of Clayton County (ACMCC).

Pastor Glanton recently traveled to India where he helped an International Rotary Club in Hyderabad, India unveil a Water Purification/Filtration System for a remote village whose population was suffering from numerous cases of Skeletal Fluorosis. Pastor Glanton also adopted the Indian Village and pledge 40-classroom desks and chairs for the local school children who were studying while sitting on the floor.

He has helped numerous non-profit organizations such as Hearts to Nourish Hope, Youth Under Construction, Boys to Men Mentoring Program, Courtney S. Crooms Foundation, Clayton County Marriage and Family Imitative, Clayton County Task Force to End Homelessness, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Boys and Girls Foundation and the African Women’s Development Foundation.

During his tenure in the Georgia House of Representatives Pastor Glanton was an active member of the Legislative Prayer Group. He served as the Chairman of the nine-member Clayton County Legislative Delegation. He advocated for increase funding for the Meals on Wheels Program and legislation concerning women, children, families, and military veterans.

He is credited with being instrumental in Clayton County Public Schools regaining its full accreditation through the introduction and passage of House Bill 1302/743 bringing civility to a dysfunctional School Board. He has introduced legislation creating over three billion dollars in potential revenues to Clayton County and the Southern Crescent.

He recently travel to Washington, DC to attend an “invitation only” National Prayer Breakfast with President of the United States, Barack Obama as well as Vice-President Joe Biden, First Lady Michelle Obama and other dignitaries from around the globe.

Pastor Glanton is an aspiring author and credits his love of God, his wife of thirty years, and his sister Jacqulyn Stewart (Summerville, GA) and deceased mother (Betty Jean Glanton) with his over whelming desire and motivation to serve others.

He lives by the motto “ Be the change you want to see” credited to Mahatma Gandhi. He is considered by those who know him as a modern day Nehemiah “ A Man of Action”. He resides in Jonesboro with his lovely wife “first lady” Pearla (Kauai, Hawaii). He is the proud father of five adult children and grandfather of thirteen.
