Berean Church Mass Choir

2008 Performer

The Berean Seventh-day Adventist Church was founded in 1903, and is the “Mother” Church for all African American Seventh-day Adventist Churches in Atlanta, GA. Music has always been an integral part of the ministry of the Church with choral groups dating back to its humble beginnings. Today, the Berean Church has six choirs reflecting the variety of musical genres ranging from anthems and spirituals to hymns and contemporary gospel, coupled with the diversity of age. Understanding the importance of music in the overall ministry of the church, the Music Department of Berean seeks to epitomize and embody excellence in its musical offerings while ministering to worshippers in this spiritual process. The Berean Mass Choir, numbering 150 individuals, is primarily composed of choir members who have membership in the aforementioned six choirs. Under the leadership of Mr. Luther Washington, II, Minister of Music, the Mass Choir seeks to minister quarterly, while each individual choir ministers on a weekly basis. Dr. Carlton P. Byrd serves as the Senior Pastor of the Berean Church, and the combination of Dr. Byrd’s preaching ministry with the Berean Church’s music ministry, yields a powerful, synergistic worship experience under the auspices of the Holy Ghost. All are invited to be a part of this experience, for at the Berean Church, there’s “a place for you.”
